Starting a new Life.

Born to Ted a policeman and Ruby a homemaker, at home on the 11th Oct., 1927, I had one older brother - Arthur.  My childhood was happy but I was a mousy little girl and found it hard to make friends.  Educated at Yarraville Primary and Hastings Primary Schools and then Footscray Girls High School.  Always very active in sport I joined the swim team and athletics at High School, appointed to Form Captain, House Captain and Prefect.  Leaving school in year 10 at the age of 14 years to go to work for the war effort. (something I would not do now).  Worked at Goetz Annexe on switchboard and reception for 9 years with a lovely group of people, my work years were happy.  A member of the Olympic Swimming Club I changed at 18 yrs. to go to the Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club, it was here that I met my husband Douglas, we had a lovely circle of friends, enjoying dancing and beach activities, guess I wasn't mousy any more. Douglas and I married and raised 3 of 4 children, one little boy dying at the age 2.10 yrs. First born Denis, is now 55, married to Bronwen, they have a pigeon pair.  Judy at 52 is married to Ken, they have 2 sons.  Jane, the youngest is 43 and married to Brad, they have 3 sons and live in Ontario, Canada.  Leaving work when I had Denis, I turned to teaching swimming which I did for many years.  Always interested in horses, my 3 children followed suit and we were all members of the Williamstown Horse & Pony Club, where jumping was my teaching.  Moving to a hobby farm for more space and enjoying the life until it crashed around us when my Douglas died at the age of 53 yrs., in 1979 but Life does go on.  My Life has been good with some ups and downs.  My new interest at 74 (79 Now) is Internet, keeping my mind active as well as exercise for health.  Making the most of each day either walking Edward, gardening, decoupage or Internet.  I have a wicked sense of humour, if anyone would like to write, your letters would be most welcome.
