TRAVELS

Apart from the annual holiday as a youngster, I had never travelled further than my home state. Spent a lot of time travelling with the horses to shows and carnivals.  Douglas and I were finally planning a trip when he took ill.  Two years later my first trip was with Jane to Singapore & Hong Kong, with a day in China and also Malaysia,  then Judy and I repeated that trip 2 years on.  When Jane was to settle in Canada I was invited by her in-laws to be, to see where she would be living, since then I have had 4 trips across the Pacific and enjoyed every one of them.

Singapore I found to be very clean, lovely place to visit.  HongKong was noisy, busy, exciting and a shoppers delight. China was just opening up to the West on our first trip and we were not allowed to mix with the people except those designated to show us things.  It was different 2 years later when the dollar was drifting in.   Los Angeles was not my type of city, although some interesting places to visit, ie Universal studios and Disneyland.   Loved San Francisco especially Muir Woods and Bay trip.   Detroit, we only got to visit the Ford Museum, it was big and very interesting, set in lovely gardens.  Toronto I was surprised didn't seem so big, we did manage to go to the CN tower but only allowed to first landing because of the strong wind, also went to the Skydome.  Niagara Falls was an eye opener, it was the power and beauty of it that made it well worth visiting and the highlight of Canada. Would like to go to Europe if time lets me.   It was always good to get back to "Home Sweet Home" - Melbourne, Australia.
